Impressions of my home town

Updated: Jan 11

It is strange to be back in my home town, even though I have been back many times before, this time feels a bit different. Everything is familiar and at the same time a new town. There are new shops new restaurants, and yet there are still familiar sights too.

I registered at my mom's address and got a welcome kit as a new citizen of this city, which was quite funny to me. I once up on a time not get out of here fast enough, lol.

I won't stay here long as I am migrating further south in a few days, to start hunting for apartments. But staying at my mom's gave me the ability to get started and for the Emma, the dogs and I to decompress. Plus I got to see my dad after his back surgery. Mia got to meet my 96 year old grandma. Seeing my Oma smile and talking to my dog, made my heart full.

Also off my to-do list is buying a car! After considering not buying a car at all, my desire to be mobile outweighed the idea to stick with trains and save the investment. I found one that was reasonable and that helps me transition from the US traffic to the density in Germany. I can't even tell you how much it raises my anxiety how traffic has increased here and people drive pretty aggressive too. It is absurd to me after driving a month in Maine, where there was never congestion at all.

So with no more to-do list items needing attention Emma and me did some sight seeing and taking the dogs for walks on the beach and back roads around town.

Still don't feel as if I have arrived yet, but made good progress and try to take some time too to "smell roses", just because at some point work routine will dominate my days again.

<p>Early Summer in the most northern state in Germany is beautiful, the hills are green and everything is blooming and the coastal breeze keeps the heat at bay. It makes my soul smile looking at the nature all around me.

Hope you like the impressions too.
