Renovation Madness
For a house that was technically “move-in ready,” I somehow ended up spending the last five months in a permanent state of renovation. Some of the changes are hard to explain properly, so maybe the before-and-after photos will do a better job. Not everything I tackled myself, I did hire professionals for the big jobs, but I am proud to say that with lots of video watching and my practical mom to help me, I was able to do some things I had not done before. Before I even moved

The House
Before heading to London I had cancelled my lease. I felt fed up with the place and the high rent. And part of me longed to go back to the US. But part of me felt I needed another try and feeling at home in this country that is my origin. So the plan was to go up North where I grew up and rent there and see how it goes. So right after London, I attended another one of these breathing afternoons. I know it sounds strange, but laying on my back breathing and letting all the thi

Hiking for My Birthday (Harz)
A long weekend walking with a childhood friend, what could be better as a birthday celebration? We met the evening before our first hike. And as it had been all those times before, we easily picked up where we left off. First catching up on our lives and then just enjoying exchanging thoughts. We started early in the morning and with it being Fall the woods showed all their colors, which draws me in. It was misty and foggy, and being a fall person, I really like these moody t

Trolltunga
Even before I decided to go to Norway I had seen this documentary about hiking up Trolltunga and sleeping up on the mountain in a tent. So when the planning for my trip to Norway began I booked this before anything else. It was supposed to be my moment overcoming my fear and stepping out on this rock formation and feeling strong or rather invincible really. Monday I took the bus to Odda, which meant several hours in a big touring bus. With podcasts in my ears, looking out the

Norway Traveling Alone
It was time to find out if a view and loneliness is right for me. I was excited and weary at the beginning of my trip to Bergen, or better outside of Bergen, Norway. The first day was a bit challenging. Somehow it took me a long time to understand the bus stops and directions and a few times I hesitated too long to get on the bus, just to realize it would have been the right one. After the needed pit stop to get groceries, and then finally getting to the very cute cottage, I

Happiness at Old Age?
Just a few weeks ago my grandma turned 100 years old. I know that is enormous, and I want to reach a similar age, well under certain circumstances at least. Since Christmas this event has been a much discussed in my family and I am very relieved that the days leading up to her big day went much smoother and better than I had anticipated. My biggest worry was selfish family members pushing her to parade around to get the picture. To be honest when I visit my grandma in her nur
