Maine

Updated: Jan 11

On the license plates it states "Vacationland" and I can so see that. The nature around me is rugged and a bit wild, but in an inviting way. It is almost as if it says, come here look around this bend in the road and you get rewarded with something unexpected.

The drive here was long but there was very little traffic, which made the driving itself easy. Just my dear old Chihuahua-Mix can't keep his anxiety/excitement under control, which means a lot of noise from the cheap seats. <

Somewhere in Massachusetts there was snow on the ground and I got excited to have the dogs experience that, for the first time, but they nonchalantly ignored the fact that there was anything covering the ground. Very disappointing!

The house I am staying in is as charming, light and comfortable as the pictures made me believe and I am grateful for that. I catch myself thinking, I would like this kind of floor or that kind of layout in my next house.

So we settled in and now we wait for the tourist season in Maine to start, as in this moment, most things are not quite back to being open yet.

Oh and the grocery stores up here are not at all like Publix! The guy bagging my groceries, waved his hand in my face and told me to back off, because I got too eager to help him and you know 6 feet distance and all. I was very taken aback!

But when I went to the Walgreens to get me some pain meds for my back, the lady behind the counter was very sweet and friendly. She even found me a coupon and chatted with me for a bit, which totally made up for the encounter at the grocery store. My back decided to seize up and make it painful to move at all. But hopefully in a day or two I will be back to normal.
