Somewhere in the Mountains

Updated: Jan 11

Time flies by so fast! I have been at my friend's cabin in Georgia for a few days now and finally can have time to sit down to write a few words. The road trip part one was not at all what I had envisioned. Friday night my friend helped me pack my belongings into the car and Saturday morning off we went.

The first leg of the journey was smooth, just a few pit stops and on we went. Mia seemed to enjoy her new setup and was dozing after a bit, but Rags seemed quite excited and whined a bit, which I ignored, thinking he would eventually calm down. As we approached Atlanta the traffic started to slow to eventually be stop and go. To pass time I decided to call my mom and let her know all is well as all of the sudden I hear a noise that was terrifying and familiar at the same time. My dog got car sick!! (insert noises here) Nothing like being stuck in traffic, six lanes of concrete, with no where to stop.

Opening the windows and realizing on my left a guy was blasting music and on my right a lady smoked cigarettes, the window went back up and down in intervals...

I finally made it past this bad traffic and to a place to stop. Letting both dogs out, wiping one down with baby wipes. Trying to decide where to put the soiled accommodations, since the car was packed with no room to spare. Deciding both dogs can sit together on the clean side of the back seat, as we had only a bit over 1 hour to go. As I lifted the sick dog into the back seat, he got sick again and spoiled the seating the clean side too! Sigh! So here we were, using the remainder of the baby wipes and covered with a towel what I could.

Now all I wanted was to get to the cabin, to clean up, wash what needed washing and maybe have a glass of wine? But unfortunately I put the wrong keyword into maps and was sent on an hour long detour through small towns. There were 2 police cars sitting and waiting for speeding cars in one town with 45 tempo limit, when all I wanted was to drive 90 to get to where I needed to be. Patience!!

I did eventually arrive at my destination and after unloading, washing dogs, and towels and bedding and freshening up I did get to put my feet up and enjoy the view. I guess we are off to a good start... to be continued....
