A human and dog

Walking fast to stay warm

On a soft misty day

The path is damp and deserted

The brush on the side brown and triste

The trees reach their arms into the cotton fog

Leave-less at this time of year.

Branches thin arms dissolving in the white and grey

The human feels strange comfort 

in this winter bleakness..

The fog  softens the world

quiets the restless mind

One feels alone in the world

so still as all noises fades in the cotton fog

Evening approaches fast

Human and dog 

walking fast to stay warm

One can only see a few feet

 then a shadow emerges

Out the fog
